As part of wider NHS reforms, the boundaries of some Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) changed on 1 April 2026. This includes the dissolution of NHS Frimley ICB, with its former footprint being divided between three ICBs:

  • East Berkshire joined Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West to form the new Thames Valley ICB
  • Surrey Heath and Farnham moved into the new Surrey and Sussex ICB
  • North East Hampshire joined NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB

Our priority throughout this transition is to ensure a safe and smooth transition. Services will remain stable, and all existing clinical policies will continue to apply, including honouring referrals for people already on waiting lists.

Clinical Policies in NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB from April 1st 2026

As each ICB currently hosts its own set of clinical policies, there will be a period where legacy NHS Frimley ICB policies sit alongside existing local policies within each of the three receiving ICBs.

In the longer term, each ICB plans to review and align the legacy NHS Frimley ICB clinical policies with their own, using the best available evidence and ensuring decisions are made in the interests of their populations. This work forms part of the wider South East regional programme to review and harmonise clinical policies. We will involve GPs, service users and other local partners throughout this process, and we are committed to being clear and transparent in our decision making.

We will share updates on our progress on clinical policy alignment and other ICB developments here on our website.
