Hampshire and Isle of Wight Value Based Healthcare Collaborative.
Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) places focus on achieving better outcomes for patients whilst making the most equitable and sustainable use of resources. This allows us to deliver high quality patient centred care within our financial allocation. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Value Based Healthcare Collaborative page offers those across the system a platform for sharing, learning and connecting.
Our Ambition:
To create a fair, person-centred, and sustainable health and care system across Hampshire and Isle of Wight, where every decision is guided by value – delivering the best possible outcomes and experiences for every person, through the equitable and transparent use of our shared resources. Aligned to the Quadruple Aim, we will evolve as a learning health system, empowering people, personalising care, reducing waste and harm, embracing prevention and innovation, and building a skilled, supported, and agile workforce committed to quality and sustainability through the delivery of VBHC.
Over the next 12 months we hope to establish and run quarterly development meetings to support the development, embedding and maturation of value-based healthcare approaches across Hampshire and Isle of Wight and to connect people engaging in VBHC. Workstreams have initially been identified to recognise much of the great work already happening across the system and to share information to consider opportunities for scale and spread where appropriate for the next 2-5 years. We aim to develop and deliver webinar series, discussion forums and share resources that already exist within the system or from other systems or countries.
Longer term plans over the next 2-3 years include:
1. Develop leadership capability core requirements for VBHC across system
2. Implement robust programmes for each workstream to promote VBHC by scale and spread
3. Develop economic modelling
4. Work with academic partners to develop approach
Current workstreams being explored and developed include:
• Shared Decision Making (Elective care)
• Better Medicine (Non-Elective care)
• Medicines Optimisation
• Personalised Care
• Behaviours, skills and enablers
• Strategic commissioning
• Supporting infrastructure
• Proportionate care
Please browse this page and let us know if there is anything you would particularly appreciate hearing more about or if you would like to make connections with any of the current workstreams by contacting hiowicb-hsi.hiowcmo@nhs.net
Building on a value-based health care: Towards a health system perspective. Written by Peter C.Smith, Anna Sagan, Luigi Siciliani, Josep Figueras.
