On the morning of Sunday 1 February a fire broke out in the west wing of Southampton General Hospital. Thanks to the swift response of emergency services and hospital staff, the fire was put out and patients moved to safety.

Many practices within Hampshire and Isle of Wight are participating in a flexible commissioning scheme, which offers extra NHS dentistry sessions for patients who require additional treatment after receiving care for an urgent dental need. The scheme will also provide routine check-ups for specific patient cohorts. Patients do not need to be known to, or associated with, the practice to access these sessions.

Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are offered on the NHS every year in autumn or early winter, to people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from these viruses. 

Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight work is already underway to deliver progress towards the Government's 10-Year Health Plan for England, such as through one-stop-shop local health centres and the introduction of Dora, an artificial intelligent telephone assistant helping to bring down waits for cataract surgery.
